Pursuer Die of Death

Pursuer Die of Death guide: free A-tier Killer, Stalk loop breaks, Howl slows, Cleave finishers, and when to save Points before Artful. Tips verified July 2026.

Stalk loop breaks, Howl slows, and Cleave finishers for the free default Killer.

Pursuer Die of Death — free chase Killer

Pursuer Die of Death is the free default Killer — no Points required, A-tier in most community killers tier list bands, and the best place to learn hunt fundamentals before spending 700+ Points on paid roster picks.

Players searching pursuer die of death usually want four answers: why he stays free, what the four skills do, how to stop getting looped, and when to save Points for Artful or Harken. This guide covers Swing, Cleave, Howl, and Stalk with chase routes verified after Fashionably Late (July 18, 2026).

Pursuer unlock cost & tier

Pursuer is Free in the shop — every account starts with him. Paid Killers sum to 3080 Points; compare value on the killers tier list before your first purchase.

Most players grind Pursuer in Default lobbies until chases feel automatic, then buy Artful (700) or Badware (500) for a different macro style. You do not need to unlock Pursuer — only practice and Evilness rotation if Kind Mode is off.

Pursuer stats at a glance

Pursuer Die of Death is a balanced rushdown — not the fastest Killer sprint, but 110 stamina and strong cooldown tools let you recover from mistakes if you respect stamina rules from the controls page.

Pursuer abilities — Swing, Cleave, Howl, Stalk

Pursuer Die of Death ships four actives — no Deck RNG. Fashionably Late kept the sword fantasy: reliable Swing pressure, Cleave burst, Howl slow, and Stalk stealth with survivor vision (ESP).

SkillSlotRoleKey detail
SwingM1Basic sword hitCore damage — commit when stamina allows
CleaveEForward lunge~30 dmg + bleed · can be Blocked
HowlQAoE slow screamSlows nearby Civilians while you regen stamina
StalkRStealth ambushInvisibility + ESP · breaks loops · endlag on reveal

Swing & Cleave — damage windows

Swing is your default M1 — strong hitbox, low commitment. Save Cleave for confirm windows: survivors low on stamina, cornered, or exiting a vault. Cleave lunges forward with a small speed boost before impact — roughly 30 damage plus bleed, strong enough to delete chip from prior chases.

Block can negate Cleave — bait blocks with feint movement, then punish endlag. Do not spam Cleave when the target still has sprint; whiffed lunges waste the cooldown that should finish injured Civilians.

Howl — slow the chase, refill stamina

Howl screams in a wide radius and slows Civilians caught inside — ideal when you are nearly in M1 range or when your stamina is draining faster than theirs. They cannot sprint away cleanly while you return to normal speed and recover stamina.

Corner chases love Howl: a Civilian trying to slip out of a dead end stays slowed while you reset sprint. Pair Howl after breaking line-of-sight with Stalk, not before — slow first, then stealth reposition if they still have distance.

Stalk — loop breaker and ESP

Stalk is the most underused Pursuer tool. Activate it when juked or looped: you enter stealth, gain speed, regenerate stamina, and see survivor positions (ESP). Break the loop, cut to a new angle, then reappear for an M1 or Cleave punish — mind the end lag when you become visible again.

If you are getting looped as Pursuer Die of Death, the fix is almost always Stalk → drain stamina → Howl → commit. Switch targets freely after Stalk — injured Civilians rarely cover enough ground if the squad is uncoordinated.

How to win as Pursuer in Die of Death

Winning pursuer die of death lobbies is about chase discipline, not raw speed. Pursuer scales with player skill — community A-tier, but high-skill players treat him like an S-tier all-rounder on every map.

  • Do01Stalk when looped — do not infinite sprint into jukes
  • Do02Howl near range or when stamina-low
  • Do03Cleave only on low-stamina or cornered targets
  • Do04Switch chase targets after stealth reposition
  • Do05Never hit zero stamina mid-round
  • Do06Chip injured Civilians before fresh sprint Decks

Openings & target selection

Round start: patrol high-traffic lanes, chip with Swing, and identify low-HP or isolated Decks (Caretaker routes, pad builders). Commit kills on injured targets first — timer extensions matter when eight Civilians remain.

You can break chase anytime Pursuer allows — swap to a closer survivor if your tunnel target jukes well. Patient walking beats sprinting into every feint; Stalk resets bad chases without feeding Evilness farm time to the lobby.

Counters to respect

Block hard-counters greedy Cleave — delay lunge until after block endlag. Revolver and Punch stun during Stalk setup — reveal from cover, not open fields. Gunslinger lobbies punish long chases; use Howl and corners more, Cleave less.

Coordinated teams loop on purpose — Stalk is the answer, not faster sprinting. Teach yourself one map loop from the beginner guide, then add Stalk shortcuts across floors.

Pursuer on maps & gamemodes

Pursuer Die of Death is deliberately not map-dependent — strong on Temple, Grandma's Backyard, The HQ, and open Baseplate alike because Stalk and Howl cover terrain gaps.
